Fundamentals of Administration: EDAD 629
This course was amazing. It really opened my eyes as to the duties and roles of an educational leader. I loved the textbooks we read during the course and learned so much about what it takes to become a great school leader including shaping school policy, work, roles and tasks, and leading a school in a visionary way using PLC's and helping to shape future leaders. I know that as I follow the things I learned in this class I can have an Unmistakeable Impact on those I lead.
On the political side this course really reinforced what was taught to me during school law, and allowed me to understand the local, state, and federal levels of policy making. As a future school leader it is important to stay up to date on federal, state, and local policy. This protects one from litigation, and allows them to lead a great school.
It was great to become better informed on who the principals are today, what their roles are, and how those roles might change in the future. We also reviewed the roles of teachers and superintendents so we could more completely understand the roles we all must take.
The other thing that is great about this course is I was able to work through a lot of case scenarios that got me thinking about the decisions I would make as a school administrator. I also got to spend a ton of time working with my administrators. I interviewed them and got to compare their answers to the questions to what we had been learning in the class. I learned so much from them and hope to continue learning about these topics throughout my career.
